Regaining movement, with rigour and patience

Physiatry consultations, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy under one roof, a short walk from Casa da Música. After a stroke, surgery or a difficult diagnosis, every plan is set by a physiatrist and followed through by the same team until discharge.

Rehabilitation starts with a good consultation

At Marble Fig, every path begins with a Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine consultation. The physiatrist assesses you, establishes a functional diagnosis and sets concrete goals with you: climbing the stairs at home again, returning to work, walking down to the Passeio Alegre once more.

From there, a team of physiotherapists with specific training works with you in the gym, in the pool or, where it makes sense, in both. We reassess regularly and keep your own doctor informed.

We see children and adults, patients just out of hospital and people who have lived with pain for years. The pace is yours; the high standards are ours.

Hydrotherapy

In the water, the body weighs less and so does the fear

Warm water relaxes the muscles and eases pain. Buoyancy takes load off the joints, so you can start walking, strengthening and building confidence earlier than on land.

Every session is led by a physiotherapist in the water with you and follows the physiatrist's prescription. If you are nervous of water, your first session is always one-to-one.

Testimonial
My father left hospital unable to stand. Here they explained every stage to us frankly, without promising miracles. Three months later he was walking to the café on the corner again, with a cane and with pride.
